What’s one thing you want others to know about who you are? Less than two years ago if you would have told me how my life would be today – divorced and happily co-parenting with my ex, taking the leap as an entrepreneur and owning my own store – I would have looked at you cross eyed. I’m so proud of the growth and shifts I’ve created in my life but I also feel like I’ve just barely scratched the surface. Once I started excavating I discovered there were so many layers to what I needed to heal from after years of showing up superficially, not using my voice or speaking my truth – or really even having the self knowledge and language to acknowledge my deeper desires. Self discovery is wild and I’m here to support anyone in anyway on their journey because it is SO WORTH IT.
What’s one thing you want others to know about what you do (consider what sets you apart)? Retail and fashion can be about more than just consumerism and deeper than surface level. I truly want every one of our customers to feel empowered in their self expression through their style and clothing, to feel supported and welcome in our store. At Eleanor we strive to get to know each of our customers on a deeper level – creating a space to celebrate as well as share the frustrations and challenges we navigate as women. Being connected to our local community is so important to us and both myself and my team are committed to growing this arena through participating in local events, partnering with non-profits and charities close to us, and hosting community engagements at the store.
Embrace your Nova essence – describe how you embody the spirit of a Nova. A Nova (noun): Like a radiant star, you illuminate the path with your unapologetic authenticity, inspiring others to join in our shared vision of empowerment, values-driven living, and purposeful pursuit of a life filled with meaning.
I have learned how empowering it is when you share ALL of your story authentically with others – this includes the mess, the self doubt, the situations you wish you had handled differently. It took me nearly 40 years to realize that showing up in this way was more freeing, more meaningful, and more compelling than just appearing to have my shit together. Not only does it give you the freedom to love your journey, it creates limitless possibilities for your future. AND it gives others the permission to do the same.
Envision the impact you aspire to make in your life and business. How are you harnessing the collective support of community to manifest your goals? There are a lot of women in this community that saw me before I saw myself. There are women in this community who I’ve met just once and already hold me, my dreams, and my goals like they’re their own. This deep support and celebration is what I hope to foster in my business and life – for myself, for my family and friends, for my employees, and for my customers.
Reflecting on your time with The Nova, could you share a memorable experience or achievement that has had a meaningful impact on you personally or professionally? The safe space to share authentically, vulnerably, and without judgement at each and every event has been so impactful for me. Being held in community in this way has really helped accelerate my confidence, personal and professional growth.
Also, nothing can surpass the energy and fun of our silent disco! Dancing freely and howling at the moon – at a country club no less – with a group of soul connected women left me feeling beyond grateful, happy, and ready to take on the fucking world!
